BENEFITS OF HAVING A MENTOR
“A Mentor can be defined as a guide, advocate, empathetic ear, supporter, facilitator, sounding board or a catalyst for change.”
(BMNZ). An experienced mentor is crucial to the development and execution of a successful business strategy.

A mentor can also:
-
Help in developing greater confidence
-
Provide a soundboard for discussing ideas, when you're not ready to discuss these issues with employees
-
Believe in you and your ability
-
Give advice without emotional involvement in your business, which is a tricky one for business owners
-
Help to make the appropriate choices and sacrifices by working out what you really want from your life and work
-
Challenge your organisation’s thinking and be challenged in your own beliefs.
HOW IT WORKS
-
Introductory meeting to understand your goals and strategic plan
-
Meeting regularly (usually bi-weekly) initially to define the needs of the mentee and starting to deal with the most urgent issues. This will include a review of the actions you’re taking and whether it’s achieving the desired results.
-
As the mentoring starts to deliver results, the catch-up usually moves to a monthly cycle
